Shane was born in Port Sulphur, Louisiana on July
6, 1968. He spent most of
his childhood in West Monroe and in 1980
he moved to Crowley, Louisiana where he
attended high school. Upon graduating from
Crowley High in 1986 he joined the United
States Navy where he attained the rank of EW3. While in the
Navy he served on the USS
White Plains from 1987 to 1989 and on the USS Mars from 1989 to 1991. He is a Gulf War
veteran
having served during Operation Desert Storm. Upon earning an Honorable
Discharge in 1991 he enrolled in classes at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in
Lafayette
and earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1996. He was accepted to Southern
University Law Center in Baton Rouge
and earned his Juris Doctorate in 2000. Upon being
admitted to practice law in Louisiana in October of 2000 he obtained the position
of judicial
law clerk with the Honorable Phyllis Keaty until September of 2002 when he joined the firm.
In 2001 Shane was accepted as a reserve
officier in the Judge Advocate
Generals Corps, United States Army. His
Unit helped to provide vital legal support to the
soldiers being deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
